DEL RIO, TEXAS 78840

Del Rio’s very own, Linda Rust, will be featuring her works of art at Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery December 3rd for the Heart of Del Rio First Friday Art Walk from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Lee-Bunch Studio is located at 100 W. Greenwood , corner of S. Main and Greenwood in the Del Rio Loan Company building. Linda will be exhibiting some of her oils, as well as her latest works, wall sculpture pictographs and graphic (pencil) drawings.

Linda’s work encompasses realistic still-lifes and portraits as well as the abstract interpretations of the famous rock art of the lower Pecos River region. This ancient rock art was created by an ancient culture that goes back as far as 10,000 years ago. The Indians here began to paint their work in the cave-shelters and on the bluffs of Southwest Texas approximately 4,000 years ago. Rust became involved with interpretive reproductions of this ancient rock art in 1992. Her rock art works are dimensional and look very much like the rock they were originally created on.

This past year, Linda, has spent creating twenty-three pieces of rock art for a one woman show at the Red River valley Museum in Vernon, Texas where they were on exhibit throughout the month of September. The pieces were then installed in the Museum of Coleman, in Coleman, Texas during the month of October.

Since the completion of her series of rock art work, Rust has turned her interest to graphic drawings. Feeling a need to re-connect with the basics of art such as composition and values, which are the degrees of light on a subject or subjects, Linda has found graphite an excellent way to work on improving her art. She feels an artist should never be satisfied or they become stale and stop growing. To Linda graphics seem both a simplistic and complicated form of art. It seems simple in its approach however complicated in the execution.

Linda has done work for the Seminole Canyon State Historical Park Service, Border Federal Credit Union, and donated works of art to various organizations and fund raisers.

Rust also works in pastels and oils, as previously mentioned. She will be giving a one day introduction to pastels class, for the Del Rio Art League in January. Her works can be found in both private and public collections in the U. S. as well as some foreign countries.

During the First Friday Art Walk hours, Lee-Bunch will be serving refreshments. For more information on the Heart of Del Rio Art Walk or daily hours for the studio call Lee-Bunch at 830-774-3456.
